What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the science of life and longevity and is described as the art of daily living in harmony with the laws of nature.

This science believes that everything that is created is made of the five universal energies: space, air, fire, water & earth and that, at the moment of conception, these five elements combine into the three fundamental energies or doshas. This combination of the doshas represents your unique constitution which remains the same throughout your life. The three doshas are called vata (space & air), pitta (fire & water), kapha (earth & water).

Ayurveda & Health

Health is a state of perfect equilibrium: the three doshas are balanced, and there is harmony between body, mind, and soul (or consciousness). Each individual has to balance the three doshas by taking action to increase or decrease vata, pitta, or kapha depending on the situation.
